Pickup Position: Bridge
Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No Artist: Joe Bonamassa Comments: Here's a stab per user request of Joe Bonamassa's Sloe Gin lead tone. Crazy thing with the Plexi is you can get SO many tones out of it. I suggest tweaking the following: 1) EQ 2) You can turn the "normal" gain up to get more of an overdriven amp tone which is more Eric Johnson'ish 3) You can turn the "high gain" up for more distortion and pick attack. 4) You can change microphones and on or off axis settings depending on how bright or dark you need depending on your guitar and pickups. 5) Reverb - change to large plate and maybe increase the mix for a slightly wetter tone. I created this one with my old trusty Petrucci so I got it as close as my pickups would allow and playing along to the track, it sounds like at least a good starting point at least and if you play with your fingers ala Jeff Beck it sounds really nice and fat. Below is a link to a sample mp3 I played this patch on so just ignore the slew of "bad" notes as it's all about showcasing the tone and not my blues chops - or rather lack thereof! :) http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9171470 As always tweak to taste and enjoy! |

Pickup Position: Bridge
Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No Artist: Robben Ford Comments: If there's not enough gain for you try raising the volume in the amp setting on the left. |

Pickup Position: Middle/Bridge
Pickup Type: Single Coil
Requires Expansion Pack: No Artist: Stevie Ray Vaughan Comments: Here's a preset I used my new '63 Fender Custom Shop Relic Reissue loaded with Texas Special pickups to try to cop the SRV tune "Pride & Joy" The reverb can probably come down mix wise in hindsight, but it took me 2 passes to get this thing all the way through albeit with a slew of 'bad' notes here and there, but you'll get the idea. Here's the sample mp3: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9416107 Hope ya'll dig it and as always tweak away and enjoy! |

Pickup Position: Middle
Pickup Type: Single Coil
Requires Expansion Pack: No Artist: John Mayer Comments: This is a nice and versatile blues sound: '64 Lux Normal amp model, Spring Reverb, 2x12 Black Duo cab mic'd off-axis with Dyn 57. With singles, it is clean with maybe a bit of hair and some light reverb (just increase volume to about 8 for more hair.) To get John Mayer "Good Love Is On the Way," punch in the Green JRC OD pedal (off by default) and use middle pickup. Using Humbuckers (tested with SD Jazz/59) there is some nice wooley distortion on the neck position. Using the bridge, you can get pretty close to the Hollies "Long Cool Women (in a Black Dress)." I hope you enjoy. |
