Having a very difficult time trying to decide what to purchase to play the 11 rack thru. I'd like to play at clubs and stuff when called upon with it yet I'd also like the home studio orchestration with it.. So live, what do you use, Home, which monitors do you prefer for recording (playback)? Yes, low budget if I wrap @ 900 in the rack, then whatever into the external amps or monitors. Just curious and need some direction here. Thanks again.... All I have now is a Line 6 Spider 3 75 watt amp which I know will color the rack.. Thanks...

I like playing through near field monitors at home (there are a ton of options...I love Mackie 828's personally). Live I use in ears exclusively. I tried a QSC k12 FRFR monitor for live use and hated it.

Live: Schecter Hellraiser Drop C w/EMG 81/85, Peavey 6505 head, Maxon OD-9 Pro Plus, and in the rack is: Monster Power Pro 2500, Peterson Stroborack, and a Decimator ProRack G, cab miced w/SM57. (all Monster Rock cables and a Monster speaker cable).
Home: Peterson Stroborack, 11r, Tascam 2488 neo, Boss DR 880 drum machine, and a pair of M-Audio Bx8a monitors. (again all Monster cables)
That's it. Sounds great! Not the priciest gear in the world, but even with unlimited funds, I wouldn't change a thing.. Except buy a couple more guitars and get some different monitors. Not that the Bx8a's aren't great for the price, but with unlimited funds, I'd definitely get some high-end monitors!
-- Haven't played the 11r live yet, but if I did, I'd run a xlr to FOH and amp out to a good powered monitor.

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking the Tech 21 but the Blackstar sounds Great... If the Rocktron Velo 300 is good then I have to scout out a decent cab to play thru.. More ching... I'm just up in arms before I make the purchase for the 11 rack in terms of what to play it thru and if I wanna play live in a small club.. Thanks again all.

I play thru an Atomic Powered Wedge. It's amazing how nice this sounds and how much more the 11R sounds like a real amp. Much, much better than studiomonitors i used before.

If gigging is your objective you might consider the $450 (10% discount) or $500 (full street price) Fender Mustang IV. I just bought one and LOVE IT! Here's why... 1.) Sounds KILLER going from your Eleven Rack amp outputs (L&R) into the Stereo Effects Returns on the Mustang IV. With this setup you're not using the Fender Modeling/preamp section at all and only using the amp's Master Volume control. Unlike going straight into a combo amp, this actually sounds best with Eleven Rack Cabinet modeling left ON because it's really designed for modeling. 2.) The Mustang IV is a stereo solid state combo amp with 75watts on each side and can get LOUD! It comes standard with 2x Celestion Seventy80 12" speakers. 3.) The Fender modeling is very intuitive and sounds AWESOME! If you want to leave your Eleven Rack behind on some gigs, you totally can. 4.) Weighs 47 lbs. Still heavy but weights about 15 lbs. less than a Fender Twin. You can carry it with 1 hand if you're reasonably strong. 5.) I don't think you'd find a better value on this anywhere. Incredibly versatile and a no-brainer modeling solution at $450 at guitar center if you buy it with a 10% discount coupon. 6.) Includes 4 button footswitch ![](http://www.rockpalace.com/gfx_productcode/XL/119852/2/Fender-Mustang-IV.jpg) ![](http://www.rockpalace.com/gfx_productcode/XL/119852/Fender-Mustang-IV.jpg) ![](http://www.themusiczoo.com/images/2-07-11/6692_Fender_Mustang_IV_212_Combo_b.jpg) ![](http://www.fender.com/themes/products/mustang/images/features/foot_switch4_5.jpg)

Used to be AKG K240 studio headphones. Now it's Sony SRH440 studio headphones. If they add options like a power amp block then I might get a tube power amp. If they add user IR's then I might just go direct to a PA live.

I dial up my patches using headphones - it keeps peace with the wife and kids ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) . I use an old pair of AKG K141s, and then check what I've done against a pair of Bose QC15s and a cheap pair of Sonys (MDR-CD170). For my own live monitoring, I use Sennheiser in-ears with Shure E-5 buds. Strangely though, the other guys in the band want to hear me too :), so I went looking for an FRFR to use as a "courtesy" monitor, and for use as my onstage "amp" for small gigs. Before the 11R, I could get whatever sound I needed from my Mesa Mk V, 2x12, and pedalboard, but for me, the whole point of going to the 11R in the first place was to have a good-sounding plug-and-play direct-to-FOH solution and to downsize physically - I saw no point in bringing the amp as well as the 11R. After trying a few FRFRs, out of the ones I tried, I preferred the sound of the EV ELX-115P - it sounded more like the "amp in the room" - but I couldn't swing a good enough deal with the EV dealer. I ended up with a QSC K12. They are VERY balanced and precise, but maybe a bit too "hi-fi". Takes some tinkering with the LF and HF EQ switches, and some getting used to, but ultimately, the K-12 sounds fine.

At home I'm playing through my YSS1 monitors and sub. Always sounds phenomenal! Playing live, I'm running through EV ELX112P which is a great powered monitor!

Wow, thanks for all the replies so far, I see I have a lot more options now thanks to all of you. I do live in a park for now, so I can't get too LOUD, lol... But I wanna be able, if the day comes to play in a small club, enough volume to keep up w/ the Jones's !! Thank You...

Most of the time it's my Audio Technicia ATH M50 cans - great sound. Then, when my lugs get cranky or I want to refresh my neighbours, it's KRK VXT4 monitors. Love 'em both, very riff happy ![smile smile](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif) -Nick

I play through a Sony Home Theatre Amp (STR-DH500) with a Couple of Bose 201 Speakers. I take the Digital out on the 11 Rack into the Coaxial Input for the Blue Ray Player (Use a High Quality Monster Cable).
The Sound is excellent because it is a Pure Digital Interface. Great setup for playing along with Music on your Computer at low to mid volumes. If you want to turn up the Volume, it is Loud and Crisp, has a bit more Control than your standard Studio Powered Monitors.

I was playing mine direct through the PA most of the time... and then I bought the EV SXA250.... sounds awesome.... not really a need for it now though as most situations don't warrant it's use for me.
I treat my Eleven Rack like an amp and leave it set to one setting and use pedals in front of it.

Wow, Thanks for the replies, Looks like the EV's are Great, I love the idea of the Sony Home theater amp as I have an Onkyo TX-SR706 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver... Yet great for home but won't be lugging it out for a gig...... I'm grateful for all the different responses and makes the choice even more difficult on a well, tight budget. I was looking for something under $500 for home and gig, club use..... Hopefully I can narrow it down to something... Thanks again all...!!

For home use, I use either of the following:
KRK Rokit 5 powered monitors Alesis M1 Active powered monitors
They both work well.

You can do the same thing with a Flextone III That's not a bad idea, as you would essentially have both styles of modelers and all their effects if you rigged it right (in the loop?) with some footpedals.

I guess I'm missing something here? I thought the Line 6 FlexTone III, would color the Eleven rack? If not, then how would the one do this? Thanks

Might have worked, yet on my Flextone 3 I have no effects loop or line outs except a Pod Style out, guitar in and cd/mp3 in.
I've been looking at the Alesis M1 Active MkII studio monitors and the M-Audio CX8, @$300.00 for the pair just to get me up and going. Any thoughts on either of these, experience? Thanks. Then down the road check out the Mackie Thump TH-15A? Thanks again... Oh, one other thing do I have to purchase an M-Box for the eleven Rack or does one come with it, say if I wanted to set it up to record different instruments, vocals? Just so new to all this and I trust all you guys w/ your experience on this rack and Pro tools that comes with it.. Thanks

The Flex works great via the eff. ret. Remember you have to put a plug into the input.
