Does anyone have any suggestions or guidance on the subject on powered monitors? I will get my eleven rack, tomorrow. Hopefully, my Mesa Boogie does the trick.

Hi Ken2ak,

Welcome to 11r land. If you do a quick forum search, you will find several long discussion threads specifically dealing with what we all use for powered monitors.

Glad to have you on board.

Hey Ken,

Welcome to the forum I see this is your first post.

There's already a couple threads on this subject if you search the thread history. This is assuming you're looking for a powered mains type monitor and not studio monitors. Here's a couple threads:

Basically, because of VSA's legwork (he's the man, btw) I picked up an EV SXA250 and I LOVE it. Best tone I've ever had and I've had some killer amps over the years. For studio monitors, I've got KRK powered 5's and my reference headphones are Sennheiser HD600s. I sold my MESA Stiletto head to get the EV and have no regrets. The 11 rack sounded pretty good through the amps fx return and my 2x12 cab but the tone through the powered monitor is UNBELIEVABLE and in my opinion, there's no comparison.

Peace

If gigging is your objective you might consider the $450 (10% discount) or $500 (full street price) Fender Mustang IV. I just bought one and LOVE IT! Here's why...

1.) Sounds KILLER going from your Eleven Rack amp outputs (L&R) into the Stereo Effects Returns on the Mustang IV. With this setup you're not using the Fender Modeling/preamp section at all and only using the amp's Master Volume control. Unlike going straight into a combo amp, this actually sounds best with Eleven Rack Cabinet modeling left ON because it's really designed for modeling.

2.) The Mustang IV is a stereo solid state combo amp with 75watts on each side and can get LOUD! It comes standard with 2x Celestion Seventy80 12" speakers.

3.) The Fender modeling is very intuitive and sounds AWESOME! If you want to leave your Eleven Rack behind on some gigs, you totally can.

4.) Weighs 47 lbs. Still heavy but weights about 15 lbs. less than a Fender Twin. You can carry it with 1 hand if you're reasonably strong.

5.) I don't think you'd find a better value on this anywhere. Incredibly versatile and a no-brainer modeling solution at $450 at guitar center if you buy it with a 10% discount coupon.

6.) Includes 4 button footswitch

Bose L1 with a B1 sub is the best powered monitor IMHo I have every used. Sounds absolutly Killa with my 11 rack.

I have QSC K12 and Ksub playing in stereo and have tried the EV SxA250’s.

I hate to say someone on this forum was right, but he (VaiSatchAtrucci) is, the EV do sound better….

I have had my Eleven Rack for about 20 Hours, Now. The decision to buy the 11R over the Axe-FX was a tough one, but after reading this forum it eased the butterflies about the 11R. I, also, ordered a FCB 1010, 11prom and some studio monitors at the same. I am still waiting for the KRK monitors. I ordered the monitor, because of everyone's experiences with getting the best sound out of an amplifier. Unfortunately, I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and don't have access to an EV Monitor without 221 dollars for shipping or the chance to test it out. Being impatience, I grabbed an Ampeg Amp, considering that it had the least amount of knobs and switches of all my amps. The sound was beyond disheartening. It sounded a thousand times worse than a Digi-Tech RP1 acquired in 1993 plugged into a twenty five watt fender amp. So, I transferred to my Mesa Boogie with an Effects Loop on the back, but plugged into the front using the clean channel. It sounds better but, not as half as good as the amp it's plugged into. So, I plugged into the Mesa's FX return from the 11R's Amp output. The sound became friendly, but miles apart from AXE-FX. The last and final thing attempted, plugging into the 11R's FX loop Send To the Mesa's Return Fx Loop. The sound was stupendous in every present. Maybe, not perfect for stage, but will do at my house until my Monitors get here, and I get time to check out some of the solutions. I have read on this forum.

Have 2 EVSXa250s and Wow! I am very happy with them. I also use 2 Fishman Sa220 solo amps for vocals and acoustic, sometimes I use an XLR splitter to run vocals from the mic to the 2 Fishmans And the 2 EVs so I don't have push the Fish-sticks too hard to keep up with big guitar tones out of the 2 15s in the EVs. Some of those wide spacial stereo chorus tones can alter reality.

Haha. Wasn't trying to rub it in. All the props go to u on the Evs. I am just stoked on the project. The extra mic inputs have come in handy, I just had to get a splitterbox and a y cable to get vocals out of all 4 pieces. I like the Fishmans a bit better for vocals if I had to choose one or the other. But mixing some vocals into the EVs also is really the best setup.

Anyone else combining EVs and Fishsticks?
