lurked around for a while here already. Did a live gig last night with the 11R - very much satisfied tone-wise and operational wise, so just to share some photos of it:

I really admire you guys who haul all of this stuff around and actually stand up on stage and play for folks. Me, I just hide out in my little room and occasionally get tangled up in all my cables.

Here's mine. I will be gigging with it for the first time this Friday.

The Fender amp is not mine, just borrowing it for stage volume till I can get something better. Not surprisingly, the Eleven Rack into that sounds better than that Fender could ever hope to on its own.

Ibanez JS1000 on a wireless into G-system and connected via 4-cable method. Going out the G-Sys sends L/R into the BBE before returning to the Eleven Rack L/R FX loop Returns.

Setting up racks @ a gig is always a headache...but it worths lol...

@VSA: with all the stage lightings, we are all stage-grilled anyway!

For sure aliernest! That's what I wanted, a system that I rolled in and connected up and ready to go in 5 minutes. If we had a better monitoring system, I wouldn't even use that combo amp.

Next week the rack will have wheels and a Furman. I will only connect two XLR cables to the mixer, one cable to the combo, one to the controller and one power cable.

I have used the 11r with the FCB1010 live a few times already and it works great, switches rigs fast and does everything I need. The Mackie SRM450 is only a few days old and I have yet to play with it live... sounds great in my living room though. lol

@muqizman: agree! FCB1010 is great for live. Heard many good things esp with the UNO chips. I personally am satisfied with the stock FCB1010 even without the UNO mod.

@Zenguitar: Yes, i do also connect to both mixer and speaker cab. Might be a problem when the master mixer is far away from the stage..

Used my 11R last night at a gig, around 700 people which was good. I did notice something a little worrying though, some of my rigs sounded quite harsh and 1 of my solo rigs sounded over processed and really tonal (not in a good way). Any of you guys got any suggestions?

My set up is, 11R connected to PA desk using the 2 XLR main outputs, no amp or cabs on stage. Hope you can help....

@aliernest: I'm not following you when you say might be a problem when the master mixer is far away, do you mean your XLR's can't reach or the 11R is with the mixer?

@Maddmatt: What I found this past friday night running direct is that some of the simulated mics sounded like absolute crap and some sounded normal. But I mentioned in another thread that I feel you have to get setup with the PA and then spend time working on your sound that way. I'm going to make some more attempts at going direct, but my gut feeling is that I'll be ultimately better off and more consistent gig to gig by running into a tube power amp out to speaker cabs and using a real mic. I am going to duplicate my banks so that I can have ones without cab/mic sim and then ones with.

@Zenguitar: Maybe it is just me but when the master mixer is far away from the stage (which is usually the case) the sound does change a bit (signal loss?). This might be purely percieved difference tho - in that case I think I ran 20+m cables to the mixer. Had better experience having 1 more mixer on the stage...

I did think it might be the mic's in the 11R or where the EQ is in the signal chain, going to have a play around today and then test it out tomorrow in the studio.

Need to listen to the FOH recording we took from the desk to see if its all in my head lol.....

That wouldn't happen with the XLR direct outs. You could run XLR cables for 60 meters without a problem. If you were running the Amp Outs to a mixer with regular TS cables, then yes definitely you would have signal loss at that length.

ive got som questions about live equipment for eleven rack,

so, im trying to get som money and buy a live setup to myself including the eleven rack(wich i own already) i was thinking of this: Voodoo lab ground control pro, 2 x M-audio expression pedals and a Framus 2x12 CAB but im wondering do i NEED a power amplifier to get some sound out of the cab with the eleven rack? incase i need so i was hoping if you could recommend something because im not so good at those things.. and my budget is not that big so : D

If you want to use a cab you will need a power amp to drive it, something like the Marshall Valvestate 8008 would do nicely..

@bikmajava: there are a lot of choices for poweramp..Marshall; Mesa Boogie; ADA; VHT; Randall; Carvin; ART etc. Depends on your tone choice; solid state vs tube; $; and preference on 1U or 2U or more... I give much weight to portability to I do stick to 1U poweramps.

yeah, ok, well i like tube tones thats for sure.. so would the marshall valvestate 8008 be the poweramp for me? i read some things about it and its not so expensive so i thought it would be good maybe?

and how much does the poweramp do to the sound coming from elevenrack? is the difference very obvious or? sorry im kind of new in these things : D

It would depend on what kind of power amp. Tube power amps would certainly color the sound more than a solid state amp would.

But to sum up, I used my marshall valvestate 8080 and ended up switching to a Peavey 60/60 classic tube amp and to my ears the sound is now the best I have ever got!

hmm, i read about that power amp but never catched that how many watts does it give? and does it color the sound in a good way?
and it seemed to me that it isnt that expensive, i read that something between 250-300 USD?

my goal is now to get a good sounding gear for live stage use and i have been noodling around internet like 3 days in row : D so i really thank you guys giving me good recommendation : )

Edit: The only concern on the peavey power amp is that it is 4U big.. and i can imagine how heavy it is..

The Peavey 60/60 is 60 watts RMS per channel (stereo) into 16/8 or 4 ohm speakers or 65 watts mono and it's a bit heavy (30lbs)! The smaller alternative is the 50/50 (1 rack) which is 50 watts RMS per channel (stereo) into 16/8 or 4 ohm speakers or 55 watts mono, but it is not much lighter at 26.8lbs. I don't think you can win on weight with tube amps because of the power transformers (No pain no gain! )

From a sound perspective I think the Peavey adds less of its own character to the sound (which people complain about!). My personal opinion is that it is probably more 'transparent' then most valve amps but till adds the tube 'warmth' to the tone:).

From a cost perspective you are right about 250-300 USD. I paid just over $200 and then spent about another $80 to re-tube it with some 'premium' tubes which improved the sound significantly (came with stock tubes). The 50/50 is more in demand so can be a bit harder to get hold of other than that the other differance between the two is that the 60/60 uses 6L6 tubes in the power stage and the 50/50 uses EL84's. Only negative with it that I can think of is the cooling fan is a bit loud and when I first got it I figured I would repace it with a quiter one. But honestly once you start playing it's not that noticable (or maybe that has something to do with the volume I play at! ;))
